You know how I love elves. Heck, I’ve even created my own fictional universe for them. But, the fact is, I am a hobbit. Well, I try to be. I want to be. The modern world is noisy, you know? And I continually long for mountains and good, tilled earth. I’m in good company though. The hobbits’ creator, J.R.R. Tolkien, felt the same way. “I am in fact a Hobbit in all but size. I like gardens, trees, and unmechanized farmlands…”
So, how can we be hobbits? Live as naturally as possible. I know that’s really challenging in most places nowadays. But, not impossible. You’d be surprised how many people, even cityfolk, can keep chickens, for example. URBAN CHICKENS at PocketMags
Some cities even allow goats! And you can garden in a flower pot, you know. Check out the magazine rack at your local store. You’ll find all sorts of ideas. YouTube is a great place to get you started too. One of my favorites is The Happy Hobbit. One of my daughters is also a hobbit and we binge-watch that channel, some of the episodes repeatedly. Ironically, that daughter wants to be Tauriel for Halloween. Elves are so beautiful, it can take a few years to accept we are hobbits, I guess. HOBBIT DESOLATION OF SMAUG at Amazon
Winter is coming. Time to start planning your garden for Spring, like a good little hobbit. You’re going to need a good seed catalog. Also, check out The Easy Garden. Getting new chicks in the Spring? Better pop over to The Backyard Chickens too. Want your own Hobbit hole? This one is awesome! Also, check out this episode on How to Dress Like a Hobbit. Well, now, I know what I’m being for Halloween!
Now, let’s share links and support each other. Please remember the sites must be appropriate for my younger friends too. Thanks.
