Normally, this spot would be for blogging book tours, cover reveals, and blitzes, but I’ve been tweaking this new theme all week. So, I’ll just share the contemporaries I’m reading right now.
First off is a cozy mystery called Cat About Town by Cate Conte. I’m only a couple of chapters in, but I can tell you the prose is beautifully written. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/cat-about-town-cate-conte/1126791508?ean=9781250072061#/
I decided to make a better effort at reading Mystery because it’s so difficult to find Contemporary Romance of any flavor which isn’t dark and raunchy and entirely populated by Alpha Males and Kick-butt Heroines. (((sigh))) Which leads me to the next book, a Contemporary Western put out by Harlequin’s Special Edition.
Hey, this guy is blondish and actually smiling. Totally don’t get the appeal of grim heroes.
Seriously, would you really want to spend the rest of your life with an old grump? Great nookie won’t fix that, sorry to burst the bubble. I’m a couple of chapters into this one too and the hero’s emotionally journey has thoroughly snagged me. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-mavericks-return-marie-ferrarella/1125814387?ean=9780373623761
And finally there is a new magazine on the shelves for fans of The Pioneer Woman, full of great ideas for making your reality warm and cozy and romantic too.
My theory is readers who stray too far into fantasy do so because reality stinks. Well, I’m here to tell you that reality can be pretty wonderful too. But, it’s up to you to make it that way. I know it’s hard. I struggle with it too. But, it is possible. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some autumn household decorating to do.
